ABOUT PRODUCT
Hollow aluminosilicate microspheres or cenospheres are today the most sought after fly ash component for many different applications. Cenospheres are released by flotation during the hydro removal of ash from coal-fired power plants, float to the surface of the water in lagoons, from where they are collected for further processing. However, the content of cenospheres in fly ash is usually very low.
According to our research, the average content of cenospheres is 0.02-0.2%. Due to such a small content, it is difficult to agree with the prevailing opinion about cenospheres as the most important component of ash from the point of view of market potential. Nevertheless, the demand for cenospheres in various industries is growing every year. And if the demand for cenospheres in the oil and gas industry tends to decrease, then the demand for cenospheres for other applications is only growing, however, so are the requirements for properties.
The main suppliers to the world market in the last 10 years have been China and India. In China, a huge number of coal-fired CHP plants have been built, while old ones are being closed in large numbers, new, more powerful ones are being built, but in smaller numbers, which do not have a wet ash removal system. India has about 150 large and medium-sized CHP plants, but since the country does not need heating, a number of stations regularly shut down due to an excess of electricity, and the lack of water does not allow the extraction of cenospheres in many lagoons.
The third supplier of cenospheres to the world market are Russia and Kazakhstan with a total annual volume of cenospheres of about 55 thousand tons. There are also suppliers from Australia, South Africa and Turkey on the market, due to the significant share of coal energy. Ukraine provides supplies of cenospheres up to 10 thousand tons per year. There are very few own sources of cenospheres in North America, the European Union and Great Britain.
The total global market for cenospheres is estimated at about $ 500 million per year and is segmented by application. It follows that the world sales of cenospheres are approximately 500 thousand tons. In general, the volume of supplies of cenospheres to the world market tends to decrease. This is due to the growing demand for dry fly ash and the high cost of maintaining ash dumps.
The main areas of application of cenospheres: drilling and cement mixtures, production of building materials, refractories and polymers, new composite materials, sound and heat insulation materials. Cenospheres can be coated with special substances for adhesion to polymers. Fractionated cenosphere is also offered to our customers: such fractions as: 0-100 microns, 0-160 (150) microns, 0-300 microns and others are possible.
Cenospheres combine all the advantages of a spherical shape, small particle size, low density, fluidity and inertness with safety for the environment and fauna.
Packaging: polypropylene big bags of 500 kg, installed on a pallet or multilayer paper bags of 20 kg. The shipment is carried out in 20 tons with delivery anywhere in the world.
